Bramhi   (Bacopa monnieri)

Anti-oxidant: Brahmi contains bacosides phytoconstituents that have been shown to neutralise free radicals preventing fat molecules from reacting with free radicals and have anti-oxidant activity.   Anti-inflammatory: Brahmi is also used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and several studies have documented the anti-inflammatory properties of Bacopa in preclinical. These studies demonstrate that Bacopa can modulate systemic inflammation. Anti- Anxiety: Brahmi helps reduce stress and anxiety by elevating the mood and reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone closely linked to stress levels. In a previous study, it was concluded that Bacopa monnieri reduced anxiety and depression scores, compared to the placebo. Anti-cancer: The pre-clinical studies suggest that high anti-oxidants like bacosides in Brahmi may be responsible for its anti-cancer properties. Cell line study shows that bacopaside II inhibits colon cancer cell growth by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Nootropic activity: The chemical constituent responsible for the effect of Brahmi on learning ability, and alertness was identified as a mixture of two saponins bacosides A and B. They have enhanced protein kinase activity which increases protein in the region of the brain. They also work by altering the availability of the brain’s supply of neurochemicals by improving the brain’s oxygen supply. Hair growth: Brahmi contains alkaloids that upgrade the protein kinase movement which might be liable for hair development action.
